Katie Stroman is a Licensed Massage Therapist and the owner of Evanescence
Massage & Bodywork. Her journey began in 1998 when she moved to magical
Lake Tahoe, California. During her two year stay, she immersed herself in a health-minded
community. It was there that she received her first professional spa massage and she knew
right away that massage therapy was her life’s passion.
Soon after her experience in California she moved back to the Philadelphia area, where she
was born and raised. In 2003 she graduated from the Pennsylvania School of Muscle
Therapy (now Cortiva Institute of Massage Therapy). Over the last 17 years Katie has
worked as a massage specialist at a top destination spa and collaborated with several
Chiropractors, in the Philadelphia area, to provide top quality Massage Therapy solutions.
In 2011 she launched Evanescence Massage & Bodywork which provides a large range of
services including treatment for auto and sports injuries, chronic pain, stress reduction,
preventative care, and much more. Her massage style has evolved into a fusion of many
techniques that include: Deep Tissue, Swedish, Hot Stone, Heat Therapy, Ashiatsu, Aromatherapy, and Thai Massage. Each session is customized to meet the specific needs of the client for the most beneficial outcome.
One of Katie’s favorite quotes by Maya Angelou is, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Though massage therapy is a physical treatment, for Katie it’s much more profound than that. Massage Therapy is about encompassing the mind, body, spirit and building strong relationships with her clients so she can fully understand their needs.
However, Katie’s evolution as a wellness provider and as a person does not end there. Katie continues to develop her skills as a Massage Therapist through continuing education. She also finds enjoyment in Yoga, reading about Health & Wellness, and Personal Development.
Q: What made you want to become a massage therapist?
A: I've always been a natural healer with a deeply ingrained desire to help others. A few years ago my healing journey lead me to reiki and eventually to pursue massage therapy which has since only increased my passion for creating peace, healing, comfort, and the fulfillment of being able to provide those gifts for others and their own wellness and well-being.
Q: What types of massage do you do?
A: As a massage therapist, I strive to provide each client with a highly-personalized experience that comfortably blends the serenity of relaxation with solution-based relief through a variety of techniques and a warm, professional touch designed and specifically tailored to their individual needs for a truly unique healing experience. I especially enjoy working with clients to promote wellness and relaxation through traditional swedish massage, reiki (and soon to include Lomi Lomi in Spring 2020) as well as offering specialized bodywork including myofascial release and PNF/MET (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation/Muscle Energy Techniques) for more chronic or recurring muscle symptoms.
Q: Fun Fact:
A: In my spare time, I am pursuing a Ph.D in Metaphysical Sciences and developing several education enrichment courses and seminars about reiki, the chakras, and their important relationships to health and wellness in the body as well as a certification as a Professional Life Coach. On a less serious note, I absolutely adore my fantastically magical cat Jasper and am also a professional singer when not focused on cultivating my career as a healing and massage professional.
